I've owned multiple American Shorthairs and I've always found them to be very clingy at times, but other times they don't care too much to be touched. Just like any other cat they want to be petted one day, and the next they don't want anyone touching them.

My current American Shorthair, Osiris, loves being held and hates being alone. I guess you can say I spoiled him a little too much when he was a baby. When it came to other dogs he loved them, but only sometimes. My dog Sammie LOVED annoying him and even though he acted like he was mad, you could tell he loved it. There were even times when he would try to annoy her. Osiris is my baby. He is the sweetest and cutest kitty in the world.

I recomend this type of cat for anyone because they are so easy to care for AND they loved to play with laser pointers more than anything. They're great!
