Salem, our black short hair

I got Salem from a complete stranger who had placed an ad in the paper giving away Feral kittens. He was the only black one, and quite the loner- didn't seem to have any interest in his siblings who were all playing together in the cage.
We had him neutered and socialized with our dogs, and began the task of litter training him. He was started out a diet of wet kitten food then over time switched to Meow Mix.
This cat was quite friendly with everyone who came in contact with him- other animals included. He was smart, tough and at times could be jealous,as was the case when he began refusing his litter box when I was pregnant with my 2nd daughter; he decided to begin relieving himself in her toy box and clothes basket. Thankfully this only lasted a few months and he quickly stopped this behavior.
