The German Landrace Pigis a medium to large pig that is all white in color. The hair is fine. The head is narrow and long. The snout is long and the ears are large, heavy, and drooping while slanting forward close to the face. The body is long with an almost flat back. They are meaty with plump but trim hams.
German Landrace Pig is easy to handle. It has nice temper and usually is shy at first. It has strong head and back. It grows fast and likes to eat a lot. It may eat various kind of food like corn, potatoes, fresh grass etc.
Birthing is easy and female pigs are good mothers. It's mostly healthy. It has tolerance for heat. It needs to have fresh water all the time especially in summer. It's much more sensitive to lack of water than to lack of food..

purchased two German Landrace pigs from a hobby breeder in 2012. It was a great experience keeping the stock considering their great health and appetites! These pigs ate the kitchen remains. I also supplemented the food with formulated concentrates. It was not a challenge raising these pigs because they have very few health challenges especially when dewormed, and they grow fast.
The sows were good breeders too. They produce large litters, good for your pocket! The sows were profitable and gave a substantial return on my investment since I could sell the piglets to prospective breeders. They were calm and easy to handle, not to forget they had good litter habits!
I was happy with the overall performance of this pig. However, I had to relocate the piggery further from the main house because of the awful smell coming from the hold..
