The basics:
The Welbar was created by breeder Mr. Humphrey of Lustleigh, Devon, England. He did this by crossing Gold and Silver Duckwing Welsummer roosters to Barred Plymouth Rock hens. In 1948, the breed was recognized by the Poultry Club of Great Britain in Gold and Silver color varieties.
