The basics:
The Noire de Berry was created in in the 1900’s, by Baron Henri de Laage. It was intended to be a meat and egg fowl. The standard was created in 1913. The Noire de Berry was popular until the 40’s, but sadly by 1975 the breed was extinct. The breed was once again created by Gaston Touraine. Today, the Noire de Berry lives on by several very dedicated breeders.
