The basics:
The Iowa Blue chicken was created near Decorah, Iowa during the early 1900's. The breed is very rare, and is not recognized by the American Poultry Association (APA). Today, there are only a few hatcheries selling the breed, and a couple of breeders striving to preserve and perfect it.
