The basics:
The Gauloise Dorée is an ancient breed of poultry from France. The exact date of its creation is unknown, but Julius Caesar described the breed in his travels. Interest in the breed wore down after the second half of the 19th century, and by 1950 it was believed to be extinct. Thankfully, the Gauloise Dorée was found in the 1980’s.
