What else you should know:

As smaller fowl, you may find an enclosed run necessary to keep your bantams safe from birds of prey.

Birds with crests and feathered legs are more prone to mites, lice, and scaly mites, and should be checked monthly. If you find your birds have any of these parasites, a chicken friendly pesticide should be used.

If allowed to walk in the snow, feather footed fowl can collect ice balls on their feet. These should be removed daily to prevent frostbite.
