Other common names: Kenyan Boran; Orma Boran; Somali Boran; Borana
Boran Cattle are a popular beef breed found in eastern Africa. Boron are directly descended from the original Zebu (Asiatic cattle) introduced to Africa about 3800 years ago. Boran mature more quickly than most other Zebu breeds. They are of medium height but quite muscular.
Our African Cows
Just thought I’d say a little something about the Borana cattle that we have on our farm. We currently have approximately 120 head of cattle in our farm. This was one of the best investments we have made on our farm. These cows have been the main source of income on our farm for many years.
Firstly I would like to say that I am lucky I do not come from the Maasai community otherwise I would not be allowed to sell a single cow on our farm. According to Maasai tradition, they are not allowed to sell a single cow as they are their sign of wealth and respect in the community. In our farm, these cows are a great source of income and if you are looking to make some money in your farm, you may want to consider Borana cows.
We pride ourselves in owning these special breed of cows from Ethiopia. In our farm we feed the cattle all natural products which has been the main attraction for our buyers. They get the best nutrients from what nature has to offer making them healthy and reliable to raise. We have many farmers who visit our farm from far and wide to look at the natural ways in which we raise our cows.
Contact me if you are ever thinking of getting into cow farming and maybe we can share some insights and experiences to help you get through the process..
