Species group: Cichlids
Other common names:
Scientific name: Julidochromis regani
The Regan’s Julie fish is a large fish with attractive coloration. It has an elongated, laterally compressed body and a large dorsal fin. There are dark brown horizontal lines running across its sandy colored body. The pectoral fins and belly are stained with a lovely yellow.
Regan’s Julie fish are territorial and aggressive in nature. In community tanks, they can remain shy and hidden for hours.
Tanks with a capacity of 10 to 20 gallons work really well with Regan’s Julie fish if maintained in single pairs. Tank habitat consists of rocks and sands for the fish to blend in. A sandy substrate keeps this species happy. They can be maintained in the same tank with smaller fish.
Cold water causes parasite problems
Chilodonella is known to infest fish that are exposed to temperature dips. Reduce the chances of this parasite attacking your fish by using a high-quality aquarium heater. A stable water temperature will keep the fish's immune system working and fighting off Chilodonella infestations..
