Scientific name: Trochilocharax ornatus
The Hummingbird Tetra is native to slow moving, densely vegetated streams in waterways of the Amazon River basin in northwestern Peru.
Like all other Tetras, the Hummingbird Tetra is a schooling fish that enjoys swimming with 8-10 of its kind. If kept alone or in very small numbers, they will either become stressed trying to live in seclusion, or harass and nip slow-moving long-finned tankmates.

Looks bad, but fish recover
Stress brings on this viral disease. The fish will recover if most cases. But if you have a dead fish, for any reason, remove it immediately. If fish eat a dead fish, the virus may be transmitted. The rotting fish will cause a stressful spike in ammonia and nitrite. Remove dead fish right away!!!.
