Species group: Danios
Other common names: Turquoise Danio; Kerr's Danio
Scientific name: Danio kerri
The slender-bodied Blue Danio is a small and pretty species, best viewed under sunlit conditions.
Blue Danios can also be a mix of blues and yellow-whites. It has blue and gold stripes extending from the caudal fin to the gills. The body background is blue, ranging from deep blues to powder blues.
Blue Danios are peaceful and active by temperament. They are schooling fish and get along well with other Danio species and other small-sized peaceful fish.
A well-planted spacious environment is preferred by Blue Danios. These fish need all the space they get in the tank for schooling. Long tanks can be used to house this small species. Water conditions must be clean and clear. Frequent water changes are necessary. They qualify as ideal community tank fish. This fish is a jumper so tanks must have adequate cover on at all times.
active schooling fish, PERFECT Beginner Fish, peaceful, community tank, planted environment
Tight fitting lid
Easy to care for
Danios are fun fish to keep. They like to swim in schools, but can get a little bigger so make sure to have the right size tank. They like to swim around plants and rocks, so it's important to have these in their environment. The ones I had were extremely hardy and stuck around for years. I don't think they are as pretty to look at as some other freshwater fish, but I always recommend them to people setting up larger fish tanks. .

Looks bad, but fish recover
Stress brings on this viral disease. The fish will recover if most cases. But if you have a dead fish, for any reason, remove it immediately. If fish eat a dead fish, the virus may be transmitted. The rotting fish will cause a stressful spike in ammonia and nitrite. Remove dead fish right away!!!.
