Species group: Mixed Breeds
Other name(s): Care-Tzu
RightPet does not advocate the intentional cross-breeding of purebred dogs. But the reality is that most dogs available for adoption at shelters and rescues are mixed breeds. We think it might be helpful to hear from owners of these mixes to see what traits can be found in these dogs who are desperately needing homes.
The first generation Care-Tzu is a cross between a pure Cairn Terrier and a pure Shih Tzu, although subsequent generations may have different proportions of the two breeds in the mix. This so-called designer hybrid is intended to create an apartment-sized toy that fits easily into many families.
Appearance / health:
While it's impossible to predict the exact traits inherited by a mixed-breed dog, the Care-Tzu tends to be a cute little dog with a wire coat.
Behavior / temperament:
While it's impossible to predict the exact personality of a mixed-breed dog, Care-Tzu owners have reported that these cute little dogs learn quickly and love to perform for their owners.
