Species group: Mixed Breeds
The basics:
RightPet does not advocate the intentional cross-breeding of purebred dogs. But the reality is that most dogs available for adoption at shelters and rescues are mixed breeds. We think it might be helpful to hear from owners of these mixes to see what traits can be found in these dogs who are desperately needing homes.
The pairing between a Border Terrier and a Yorkshire Terrier isn't all that common, but you may occasionally encounter this mix in a rescue.
Appearance / health:
While all mixed-breed dogs can vary in appearance, the Border Terrier / Yorkie mix is going to give you a smaller terrier type.
Behavior / temperament:
While it's impossible to predict the exact personality of a mixed-breed dog, you're getting a double dose of the terrier personality. Expect a lively dog that has a mind of its own and loves attention from its human family. A bored or neglected Border Terrier / Yorkshire Terrier Mix could be trouble.
