Species group: Mixed Breeds
The basics:
RightPet does not advocate the intentional cross-breeding of purebred dogs. But the reality is that most dogs available for adoption at shelters and rescues are mixed breeds. We think it might be helpful to hear from owners of these mixes to see what traits can be found in these dogs who are desperately needing homes.
All mixed breeds are individuals but if you have a dog that appears to be mostly Border Terrier, it's likely that you're getting a spirited, energetic animal with a lot of heart. This mix will probably work out best for the athletic owner who enjoys lots of time working or playing with their companion. They are affectionate and may respond poorly to punishment. Focus on positive rewards while training them.
Appearance / health:
All mixed-breed dogs can vary in appearance, but in general with the Border Terrier mix you can expect a small, energetic dog that thrives on daily jogs.
Behavior / temperament:
It's impossible to predict the exact traits inherited by a mixed-breed dog. However, as a general rule, with the Border Terrier mix, you can expect a loving pet who likes to please its people. The terrier DNA may show itself when this dog takes off chasing small animals or pets.
