Species group: Mixed Breeds
The basics:
RightPet does not advocate the intentional cross-breeding of purebred dogs. But the reality is that most dogs available for adoption at shelters and rescues are mixed breeds. We think it might be helpful to hear from owners of these mixes to see what traits can be found in these dogs who are desperately needing homes.
The pairing between a Border Collie and an English Shepherd isn't commonly recognized, but you may occasionally encounter this mix in a rescue. It's possible that some people can't distinguish between the two breeds and may have mated them unintentionally.
Appearance / health:
This mix of breeds that are similar to the casual eye may be mislabed as a Border Collie or Border Collie mix.
Behavior / temperament:
While it's impossible to predict the exact personality of a mixed-breed dog, the Border Collie / English Shepherd Mix is essentially a herding animal that thrives on having an important job to do that burns lots of energy. A bored dog could become destructive.
