Species group:

The basics:
RightPet does not advocate the intentional cross-breeding of purebred dogs. But the reality is that most dogs available for adoption at shelters and rescues are mixed breeds. We think it might be helpful to hear from owners of these mixes to see what traits can be found in these dogs who are desperately needing homes.

The first generation Dalmatian / American Pit Bull Terrier is a cross between the pure Dalamatian and the pure APBT, although subsequent generations may have different proportions of each breed in the mix. There's no denying the appeal of a white APBT mix covered with black spots, but be aware of your local laws about owning APBT mixes. They are not the choice for inexperienced or irresponsible dog owners.

Appearance / health:
While all mixed-breed dogs can vary in appearance, many Dalmatian / APBT mixes are muscular white dogs with black spots.

Behavior / temperament:
While it's impossible to predict the exact traits inherited by a mixed-breed dog, the Dalmation / APBT mix is likely to be a high-energy, loyal dog who demands kind, consistent training. A neglectful owner could create a destructive dog.
