Species group: Unrecognized and Rare Breed dogs
Other name(s): American Bandogge; Bandogg
The American Bandogge Mastiff was created by crossing the American Bulldog with the English Mastiff. This so-called designer hybrid was created for the purpose of getting a powerful and loyal guardian dog. However, the reality is that not all of these hybrids are being created by well-intentioned people. Know your breeder, and know how to properly socialize and train a dog with powerful protective instincts.
Appearance / health:
This giant cross-breed will undoubtedly deter intruders, but it could also attract attention from your insurer or local law enforcement. Be sure you are allowed to own this dog in your area before you acquire it.
Behavior / temperament:
All large guardian breeds demand respectful but consistent training from a responsible owner who knows how to be an alpha and how to socialize the dog properly.
Stubborn, skin irritation, cruciate ligaments, eye infections, knee surgeries
"I fostered Evie for a while and she needed to be treated for various issues-ear and eye infections, a skin parasite called demodex and then she blew both cruciate ligaments and needed knee surgeries each costing about $4000. Thank gosh for pet insurance!

Evie could play tug of war for hours on end, loved to play and chew on sticks. Very outdoorsy and active unless it was very hot and then she got lazy! People were either terrified of her or thought she was gorgeous. You knew that even in the worst neighbourhood, she would keep you totally safe.

She does shed quite a bit and some people who weren't normally allergic to dogs seemed to get a bit of a skin irritation from her bristly fur. I still find her hairs stuck in my socks!

Make sure you train them early-when they are 10 months old and still play bite, you're going to have difficulty!!."
