I had Finchy for only one month, I would have kept him longer but couldn't because of my cats, always trying to reach for him and almost got him once. My cats are used to parrots, but when it comes to very small and active birds they get crazy :).
I find zebra finches extremly easy to take care of, they are very attractive, especially the males, with their bright red cheeks; they sing beatifully and low, so they're great for someone that wouldn't stand the parrots' loudness. They are more likely birds to look at, not play with, as they don't like it so much to be touched. I experienced having a zebra finch only with Finchy, but if you do a little search on them you'll find out that they'r all quite the same. That's why it would be best to own from the very beginning two of them.
