The White-Bellied Caiques I've known.

I've volunteered at an avian shelter in my area for three years now, and I've come across a few WBC's. Seeing as how my experience with them comes from a shelter, please assume that I didn't come across them in the best times of their lives. What I've noticed from the three that I've encountered is that they have amazing resilience. They are frisky little balls of energy, and for the most part very sweet. Like all parrots, they do have their moments. Owning a parrot means that you WILL be bitten at some point.

The Caiques I've encountered seem to have this tendency to become clingy to one person, and this can easily be discouraged by allowing them frequent contact with other people.

It's very important to remember that all parrots have individual personalities, and that no two are alike. The Caiques that I knew might sound absolutely nothing like the ones you know.

Overall, I'd say they're a good family pet- so long as the family does their research and knows what they're doing BEFORE bringing the bird home. ^_^
