One of My Very First Pets

One of my very first pets was Peetrie, the Quaker Parakeet. Peetrie was a lovely shade of blue and would wake me each morning with his gentle "chirrup-chirrup." He kept himself very nicely groomed, and his cage was easy to clean.

He wasn't the most personable bird; he wouldn't let you hold him and he might peck at you if you rested your hand in his cage for too long. But, ultimately, he was a good pet, especially for a young boy, and I'd recommend a Quaker parakeet for anyone looking for a bright bird to add some bright music to his or her life.
