Gandalf, my Nanday Conure

I found Gandalf at a rescue bird organization. He had been apparently lost and flew onto someone's shoulder who couldn't keep him and took him to a bird rescue. Gandalf immediately bonded to my husband, but several months changed loyalties and has bonded to me. He is free flight and flies to my shoulder when he wants something or if he wants company. He is an extremely intelligent bird. He is also an extremely LOUD bird. So if you are in an apartment a Nanday may not be the best choice. He does play, but I wouldn't say that he is a very playful bird. He does like chewing on things as many birds do so I try to keep him well stocked in chewing toys. And he loves taking baths and showers, as he frequently showers with me.

I would recommend a Nanday conure as a pet, however I would recommend getting a baby that has been either hand fed or hand tamed. I don't know if Gandalf would have been more playful if we would have had him as a baby.
