Not right birds for me

I used to have 2 pairs of java that I bought from a friend one of them was white the other one was grey and black shaded. These are the only birds that didn't work for me as pets. I took them home, I didn't know their actual age maybe they were 2-3 month old birds. According to their appearance I didn't find them cute as other birds I have but I took care of them but they were not settling at my home I dont know why. First I put them in different cages one pair per cage but these birds never look happy to me. They don't make too much extra noise though, they are bit calm in nature.

They were eating properly, I was giving them proper food but these birds weren't seems to be working for me I kept them for almost 2 months one of the black one died too during this period. Then I gave these birds back to the person from whom I bought them.

"I won't recommend these birds to the beginners after my own experience."

But I have seen them happy and breeding at some people houses too. Maybe they are not the right birds for me.
