These birds are incredibly intelligent and need a lot of time to work with so they don't get behavioral problems. But they can be very rewarding at the same time.

Appearance: Grey with a short, red tail. They are medium sized birds, and very cute.

Friendly with owner: They can be. They need work and attention. I've seen birds who will bite you when you come near them and others who demand your constant attention.

Activity level : Very intelligent and very active. Be sure to give them lots of thinking toys and things to tear into when you're not there to lavish it with attention.

Song-vocal quality: They have very sweet chirps, but are awesome mimics.

Song-vocal frequency: They make quite a bit of noise, but not so much that it will disrupt your day, ideally.

Mimics: This is a species that is known for it's mimicry skills! It is very adept at repeating your words and sounds that he hears.

Health/Vigor: Watch out for feather plucking in any intelligent bird.

Maintenance/Care: With any larger bird, they will need a lot of extra attention, as well as space and toys so they don't destroy. High quality food is a must.

Low cost to own: Any large bird can have high vet bills.

African greys are awesome birds! Just be sure you have the time to devote to them.
