Get a Bird Feeder Not a Bird

My family always had a bird. Usually we would get a parakeet. They had lovely voices but were generally quiet. They did not really enjoy lots of attention but would let you put them on your shoulder occasionally.

Our cockatiel hates people. He does not want to be handled at all. He will bite you if you get close to his cage. His singing is harsh and could wake the dead.

He does not like toys, only the bell he has had since we purchased him. He is very messy as well. He picks the sunflower seeds out of the food and throws the rest either out of his cage or on to the floor. He will not sit on a person's shoulder or hang out. He will fly away in the house to not be caught until you can lure him back into his cage.

We try to take care of this bird the best that we can. After owning a bird that is miserable and making us miserable, I will never buy another bird again. Get a bird feeder and watch wild birds from the window.
