Birds in general are no joke. They can be loud, hard to clean up after, and moody. But I think they are more than worth it. I got my cockatiel in high school when I was very sick. We bonded quickly and he became my healer. He is still the love of my life and I'm very protective of him. After going away to college, he doesn't trust me as much and I'm working on rebuilding that bond.

My biggest piece of advice for anyone considering a cockatiel (or any bird) is to do your research first and be sure you are familiar with all their dietary and socialization needs. If you're prepared, they're well worth the effort!

Pros: loving, good imitator, small, cuddly, easier than other bird breeds, pretty
Cons: can be loud, high-pitched voice, poops are difficult to clean, requires special diet and a good amount of socialization time every day
