Pearl the Cockatiel

I first discovered cockatiels when my neighbors (behind, in front, AND down the street from me got them. No, it was not planned). Naturally, I decided I couldn't be the odd one out, and decided to see what these cool birds were about.

Pros-
-Super friendly
-Can learn to talk
-Like to be sprinkled with water and likes to hang out with you around the house
-Super easy to feed (birdseed, really)
-Beautifully colored
-Have individual personalities

Cons-
-If you don't get their wings clipped, they will fly around, crash into something, start bleeding, and then you'll be very irritated when you have to take your bleeding bird to the pet ER at 11:00 at night. (they might also fly out of your front door, land in the tallest tree possible, and will never be seen again ((neighbors across the street))).
-They make squawking noises in the morning that you may or may not appreciate depending on your relationship with alarm clocks
-Kinda difficult to train to talk. Extreme patience is needed here.

Personally, Pearl, as super awesome as she was, was not my favorite. I just didn't like the whole "bird" thing. They aren't cuddly and they will test your patience. Don't get me wrong, though. They are beautiful, fun to play with, and will make all your friends super jealous (unless they all got them before you, in which case you can all form a super top secret bird club). Just proceed with caution, and make sure a bird is the right bird for you.
