My sister gave me a Cockatiel named Susie after deciding she loved her cat more than the bird. I thought that it would be an easy job but it ended up being my worst nightmare. Susie would throw all of her seeds out of the cage and onto the carpet. It was a lot of work to clean the cage and make sure she had fresh water... especially since she bit me every time I tried to open the cage door. My sister said if you covered its cage at night that it would go to sleep but Susie would squawk all night long. She didn't like to be touched or held so I never let her free from her cage because she would bite me when I tried to put her back. It's not a very interactive pet to have especially if they are not friendly. I would not recommend anyone with children to have a pet Cockatiel as pretty as they are. This is not to say that other Cockatiels aren't friendly but, I just know that my pet Susie was not. I returned the bird to my sister after dealing with it for 7 months and I think it was the best decision for both me and the bird.
