Phoebe -my Cockatiel

I am not much of a bird person to begin with. I much prefer dogs or cats, or any animal I can regularly pet and play with. If you are looking into owning a Cockatiel please be aware they live for a long time. My parents received Phoebe when I was born and she is still alive (I'm 23.) She chirps to herself and falls off her perch in her old age. She is very anti-social and has bonded to only one person in the household. She is also very picky with her food. She refuses to eat Cockatiel food. Instead she only eats Parakeet. While she was cute and energetic in her younger years, now she seems bitter and angry at life. She hisses at anyone that isn't the person she's bonded with. Also, every time someone leaves or enters the room she's in she goes off like an alarm. Overall, not the pet for me.
