Billy the Birdie

Billy brought a lot of happiness to our family. We acquired him when he was only about a month old and we immediately knew he was the pet for us. As soon as we met him (in a group of other birds), he came right to my finger and stepped up. We knew we found a forever friend and we were right.

As a juvenile bird, Billy was very musical. He would sing almost every day and actually enjoyed getting bathed, especially looking in the mirror while we did so. His cage could be easily cleaned within an hour. Yes, there would be quite a few droppings here and there when he was out of the cage for fun with us, but bird poop of his was actually very easy to clean in seconds. We miss Billy very much as he sadly passed away in March of 2012. We still have 2 of his feathers that we will keep forever. I strongly recommend a cockatiel as a first pet for anyone unsure of their options. Cockatiels can be very playful, friendly, and a great addition to the family.
