My experience taking care of someone else's Cockatiel

Jota was a crazy bird. I'm not speaking here as the actual owner but as the person who had to take care of him for a while two or three times.
My cousin was his owner and that bird just loved him and every member of the family that lived in his house. The problem was he wasn't a big fan of other people or other houses.
I know that the process of learning of this kinds of birds is very delicate and requires its share of attention, so the characteristics of this particular bird doesn't speak for all the other members of the species. I have to say, though, that Jota was not much of a people person... or bird, in this case.
He seemed very upset when fed by people he didn't know and would try a little bite in any unfamiliar finger he could get near.
He had his feathers trimmed so he was let out of his cage at least once a day. At those times he seemed somewhat calmer and even played a little bit with people. He would climb on peoples shoulders but he would eventually try to pull some hair out.
My point is: it's a lovely bird to have but please have in mind that it may not like to spend time far away from you or the people he doesn't usually live with.
