Cockatiel - didn't train, did enjoy

We got our cockatiel from a woman whose cat tried to murder him. Trying to avoid birdacide, she gave Taxi to us. He knew how to whistle the birthday song, call for a taxi, say "pretty bird." He was an adorable member of our household.

Once, when his wings had gotten too long, he flew out of his cage and cut his blood feather on aluminum blinds. My 10 year old self performed cockatiel surgery, pulling out the blood feather before he bled to death.

Then there was the time my mom accidentally got him drunk but that is another story. One thing is for sure, have a black cape for the cage at night to teach them not to chirp at the crack of dawn.
