Ah, those rosy-cheeked little angels. The cockatiel is IDEAL when it comes to pet birds, for all ages. They are great for beginners, or even people who’ve been owning birds for years! They are easily one of the most popular pet birds in the world, and for good reason! They’re fun, they can learn to say a few words, they love to cuddle, they love to play, and they can EASILY learn to whistle DOZENS of your favorite tunes! Like with all pets they require proper care and handling. Absolutely everyone should do their research before buying a cockatiel, it will help you IMMENSELY in the long run. Cockatiel food mix usually consists of sunflower seeds, which can be fattening. Provide your tiel with a diet rich in pellets, fresh fruits and vegetables, some fish, boiled chicken, fresh eggs, beans, pasta, rice. And VARIETY, no one likes to eat the same meal everyday! In fact most don’t like to eat alone! Prepare a nice meal for you and your tiel, and eat TOGETHER. I can’t stress how important it is for the relationship. Incorporate them into your everyday lives, they’re great companions! Teach them tricks, they are capable of so much!
