I got a pair of cockatiels a while back from a local bird breeder. They seemed so sweet and adorable I thought I'd try out my first pair of birds that stay in the house. They are very sweet birds, but I could not handle the noise. They made noise constantly, even through the night. I have macaws now, and they sleep quietly and peacefully through the night. The cockatiels would constantly shrill and chirp to the point where I could no longer take it. I hate to re-home animals, but I sadly had to re-home my cockatiels. They also mated constantly, and the male would get even louder after that. They were easy to feed and take care of - but, like most birds, they would kick and poke a lot of seeds and scraps out of the cage onto the floor. They also required a decent amount of attention, and I always let them out of the cage (like any bird owner should do). I recommend having a more sound-proof house than I do before getting a pair. Also, perhaps getting just one would fix the problems I experienced. Either way, they were not mean or nasty, and they meant well.
