When we first obtained our birds, I was so scared of getting pecked by them. It took me a while to warm up to holding them, but when I did, I was overjoyed. They do not try to peck me or fly away. They love to mimic my whistles. My mom even taught one to whistle "pretty boy." They're easy to feed and fun to watch.

The only downfalls to owning them is that they're extremely messy and not as colorful as the parakeets. They love sunflower seeds, but we end up cleaning up the shells everyday and vacuuming up the feathers. Unless you like the smell, it is crucial to change the paper in the bottom of the cage at least once a week. The colors in the birds are kinda plain, but it's easy to look past.

Altogether, I love owning cockatiels. They're lovable, friendly, and a great pet. I will definitely own more in the future.
