Cockatiel – Bird – Sweety

Sweety, was a special sweet bird indeed.

I was down at the beach checking out a garage sale & I saw a small cage hanging in a nearby tree…As I got closer, there was a beautiful large Cockatiel, inside.

I asked the lady about the bird? She told me, she was bringing her outside for some fresh air, she has a larger cage inside; I was happy to hear that! We, began talking - long story short, she was moving and looking for a new home for this female bird. I told her I have birds at home. She brought the bird inside and introduced me to her, we liked each other right away….. I bought the bird from the lady for $10 dollars!!

Sweety, was a delight from day one =) A real sweet bird, who my male Lovebird Pepe fell head over heels! He loved her so much, that he tried to mate with her. I called the Zoo on that note. They said no babies could ever happen from that union, they are too different, but the female could become egg bound from trying & maybe die. That night, when I removed the little box I had inside the large cage…there were 4 little eggs inside it!!! False eggs, not fertilized…it was kind of sad. After that Pepe the male, tried every spring, but the two birds lived together side by side for many years. A love story, for sure =)
