Twinkles was a yellow cockatiel that came from a local shelter. He sang constantly and was thus named because he could whistle the first few verses of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". Cockatiels are loud and like attention so he was a good family pet for an active family that had several pets and children around! He mimicked a few phrases and songs constantly, loved singing (or whistling) along with the radio, loved having his neck scratched, and absolutely loved trying to eat whatever food you had in your hand or on your plate. He did not like to be alone and would talk or play at night when we covered his cage. Twinkles was also like having a built-in home alarm system. When a car drove up to our house he would immediately start screeching, along with our barking dogs. If you are getting a cockatiel they LOVE slinkies and a big water dish to bath in.
