Jasper the Cockatiel

I got Jasper as a birthday present from my family during the summer months of 2004. He was a beautiful bird with bright orange cheeks (hence why I named him Jasper). When we first bought him, the store employees said that it can take a while for them to be accustomed to a new environment and that training might be difficult. However, when I took him home the first day, I wanted to play with and pet my new friend. When I rubbed my finger gently on his chest and said, "Step up," he did so immediately and I knew he was the right bird. He was exceptionally intelligent and picked up words and phrases during our move from the midwest to the southwest. Unfortunately, he passed away about 1 year after the move, but to this day I remember how beautiful, friendly and easy to handle having that little guy was. He was easy to clean up after and loved to play.
