Overall, I believe that Cockatiels are great birds. Most are very friendly, and love human attention. My bird however, is quite picky. He only seems to like my dad! I have had others of the same species who liked everyone, but Casey seems to be a one-man bird. Ever since he was born, Casey has liked my dad for some reason, and he doesn't like to be held by the rest of the family. Depending on your personal situation, that could be a good thing or a bad thing. And you never know when an animal will be that way, or why. But most cockatiels that I have handled have been nice birds. They are pretty easy to feed and care for, they aren't high maintenance. And my bird is not trained, but some can be trained to do tricks, and even speak. So it all depends on your personal preferences, but Cockatiels can be a good breed for a pet!
