The Family Cockatiel

My family's cockatiel was a runaway we acquired after a neighbor found him in her yard. Personally, I didn't enjoy him. He really only liked my dad, and he had song repertoire that he screeched every time someone entered the room or went near his cage. I have autism, and loud noises are stressful for me. Worse, for the last five years we owned him, his cage was in rooms with hardwood floors. For single people living alone, cockatiels are very loyal and their environments are easy to maintain. Children enjoy them, but I wouldn't recommend them for families of children with sensory issues.
