I'm not sure what it is about birds, but I love them. I especially love my pet cockatiel, Burt.

Burt is constantly whistling, playing with his toys and mimicking speech. All of his sounds create a very positive, homey atmosphere for me and my family. I let him out of his cage every night to exercise his wings and give him an opportunity to explore the lounge room. He is often playing with my remote control, bowing down to it and singing to it. It can brighten my mood no matter what kind of day I've had.

There’s one minor problem with my pet cockatiel though, and that is that he's only closely attached to me. He will play and sing with others, but when it comes to roosting down for the night, he will always choose to sit with me. While I love having him around, I wish he would give others attention too!

Burt is a great addition to the family and leaves a smile on my face whenever I see him.
