From 10 years old, I grew up with this bird. She was a gift from my dad and we decided not to clip her wings. She would fly up to 50 feet away and come back.
Lifespan: She lived for 13 years, and sadly I know she would have lived longer but for her last 2 years, only my dad gave her attention as I had moved away and couldn't take her with me.
She was very social and active, a sweet sweet bird with beautiful songs and could mimic sounds of words we taught her. She would perch on our shoulders and nuzzle into the neck or nibble softly on an earlobe.
Our cockatiel had a bright yellow citrus head and mohawk with orange spots on her cheeks and white and gray mottled body with her long tail feathers being darker gray, white and yellow. Beautiful and lovely.
Never got sick or had to take her to the vet the entire time. Super healthy and hardy. She would lay unfertilized eggs and get excited about them, which was sad to observe.
Wonderful family pet!
