I have the fondest memories of these birds. My grandmother used to keep no less than 6 cockatiels at any given time. Since we spent every summer and weekend at her house we each had our own bird, mine was named scooter. Although I had my own I grew to love each of their individual personalities. Every bird, male or female, were unique in their own way. I would highly recommend them as a pet for most personality types. Not only are they very smart and therefore easily trainable, cockatiels sing beautifully. I remember a few would come out of their cage to sit on your shoulder or the couch next to you, you have to ofcourse dodge the poo though (it happens). Then there was Scooter, he would bow his head to you if you ran your finger along the cage, letting you pet his lovely yellow head. In my opinion, these birds make great starter pets, feeding, watering and cage cleaning are simple tasks for the most part. Cockatiels have definitely made a positive impression on me and I only hope that if by reading this review it prompts others to take on one of these spectacular creatures and experience their wonderful quirks.
