Cocktiels are gaining more and more space in the lives of many families, thanks to its sweetness and affability . Cockatiels are usually very attached to their owners and are extremely interactive, fun and, under normal conditions, cheerful and friendly . Overall, they coexist well with other species and are easily adaptable. They need attention, and can get aggressive if you don't give them enough. I would often find them by my side looking at me with those little eyes, like asking for attention!
The personality of this species does not have an exact pattern. Rightfully so, you should not create certain expectations regarding her behavior. I've had two of them, and while one was active and playful, the other was quiet and peaceful.
A child can handle the bird in the wrong way and scare it. If you have small children at home, you should probably get another bird. Although cockatiels are often are docile, they may have defensive behavior if handled roughly. Children interacting with this bird improperly, can cause accidents (and have, in my experience).
You look for an easily adaptable and often docile, yet surprising and exotic bird? Get yourself a cockatiel!
