Cockatiel - Aviary bird or in your home bird

Cockatiels are a lovely bird which do come in a range of colours, grey and white is the most common but also whites, yellows, and numerous variations of the mentioned colours.

While the cockatiel is not available in the range of colours for other common birds such as the budgie, the cockatiel is much better suited to being kept and trained as a companion bird than many other bird species.

I have had a few cockatiels over the years and found them to be very friendly and inquisitive birds who just can't seem to help themselves....... if they see something they just have to "check it out"

I bred cockatiels without any problem at all, and also had one which was hand raised. The hand raised cockatiel was exceptionally friendly and would happliy ride along on your shoulder for as long as you could put up with him nibbling on your ear.

They make a great pet for most homes as they are reasonably quiet and should not bother the neighbors. I know a few people who have their hand raised cockatiels living inside the home and are often allowed free flight within the house
