Parrots, very briefly

Honestly, I'm surprised joining a forum requires this much paperwork up front, and the idea of a favorite pet is also somewhat foreign to me. Each animal I own/have owned has been a unique individual and formed a unique relationship. But, this is expected, so...

Parrots are a large commitment of time and money, and should be owned by adults who are familiar with exotic pet care, can afford the cost, and who know before purchase that they have a vet who is an avian specialist. Parrots can be extremely rewarding, and I am lucky to have a bird who is not a 'one person' parrot. As with any animal, do extensive research beforehand, and take any hesitations and doubts very seriously. Macaws especially, should be approached with caution, as their beaks are large enough to do serious damage.
