Another great beginner bird to own!
I have had 4 over the years and I had a good time owning them.
There is very easy access to them, you can find them at every pet store, very cheap and not expensive. I recommend buying these birds in pairs, they like each others company but buying them single is alright also.
They are capable of mimicing words, they have alot of energy and are social, they can be held and trained to be let out of their cage to fly openly in the home.
There is many color mutations to consider, they come in a nice amount of colors availble. They also have their own distinct personalities, They are so friendly once they get used to you, I gave a rating of 4/5 for friendliness with owner because they sometimes will be grumpy and bite your finger (which doesnt hurt)
Anyone considering owning these birds must remember birds fly horizontally, not vertically like a helicopter for example, a perfect cage for housing two budgies would be one measured 18 inches (46 cm) long by 18 inches wide.
again I highly recommend these, always a great bird to own, but they have one little problem...They are found in Australia, mostly the drier parts so they need alot of warmth to stay healthy , I live in Quebec Canada so the winters here are brutal, if you live in a cold area like I do, you MUST take extra precautions to keep these little guys safe and warm, just one cold draft will be fatal to these birds.
