These guys are adorable! My mom had them throughout my childhood, and I had some when I got a little older. They are a great beginner bird because they are small, cheap, and easy to find. They are very easy keepers as well.
These guys in my experience love to sing. I liked their little songs, but I'm not a morning person and frequently would find myself getting woken up way to early in the morning by two sing-song little birdies. If you want to sleep late, I wouldn't recommend keeping these fellows in the bedroom!
I bought my pair at a pet store. They were healthy, but not very friendly. I had a really hard time getting them tame, and the male still bit me. The female did much better but neither liked to be held. I'd say they were more to look at for me. I'm sure if you got them at a younger age though it would be much easier.
These guys are little and they come in many different beautiful colors. Care is super easy. It is no wonder why they are such popular pets.
