When I was a kid we had two of these birds. They were easy to feed and totally healthy. My sisters and I played with them whenever we could. We would open the cage and they'd come onto our fingers after some coaxing and soon after start flying around the room.
I didn't like how the birds pooped everywhere, even though it is not difficult to clean up after them, I just thought it was gross. No one else in my family seemed to mind. They were beautiful and friendly, I just didn't see the point when they made such a mess with their food and their droppings end up getting all over the place. Over time, the cage becomes caked and filthy, more and more difficult to clean.
I would recommend these birds only to people who are comfortable with the habitat and hygiene that comes along with them.
