I think that parrots make nice companions for people that need it and are at home a lot. I received Jocki as a present and kind of did not feel right having him as I am not at home a lot. They like to socialize, to interact with humans and if not, at least with other birds of their species. I gave him lots of toys at least and he was happy but I did not have enough time to speak to him and to be with him. Still, from the little time I dedicated to him, he picked up a few words and loved to mimic certain sounds from around the house, like the incoming email sound. That was funny.

To give him more quality of life, I gave him to my mother in law, which has lots of time and and is very very happy with him now. I myself would never accept a gift like that again, because even so I know he is in excellent hands, it was very hard for me to give one of my pets away.
